Beginners Online – How to Develop Your Skill-Based Business Strategy

A skill-based strategy, properly developed well away from your computer provides you with a sound reference point throughout the early days of your online business and beyond. It drives you to produce the income you want and also gives you an anchor when the going gets tough.

Your business strategy is different from a normal business plan – you don’t produce pages of numbers and cash flow predictions. It’s a short,  power-packed document for YOU alone, not to show to your Bank Manager to raise a loan.

You just need a few powerful statements which you not only really deep down believe in but also KNOW that you can ultimately succeed with, come what may!

No lofty ideals – just ordinary practical common sense. But it must be properly thought out at all costs and come right from the heart!

And if that little voice at the back of your mind keeps nagging you that it’s not quite right (or even downright wrong) you’d better be sure that you listen – because you can bet that the voice is right!

I can’t tell you the things you’ve got to be saying to yourself – you alone know those words that get through to your MIND even if you don’t yet realise what they actually are. But they are in your mind somewhere already, for sure and they are one of your most valuable assets.

Obviously writing out your strategy is good starting point and it doesn’t matter how badly written it might look when you see it on paper for the first time. Remember, it’s for you only – it’s not meant to be a great piece of killer copy.

It’s good to start by identifying your talents and self skills. Don’t forget it’s for you alone, so no use trying to pretend you are something that you know you’re not! You will probably find it easy to list your talents, but self skills are harder to pin down. For instance, the art of conversation is a self skill but not necessarily a talent as is the ability to take criticism or to deal maturely with problems.

They may not sound like skills in the same terms as being able to hit a golf ball  straight, but make no mistake, they are VALUABLE skills.

It’s also worth identifying what you’re going to need help with in the early stages of your online business. Lots of questions will come up and some of them maybe a bit scary but you obviously cannot possibly avoid asking them.

Your final strategy statement has not only got to be sound common sense but you’ve must be comfortable with it so your nagging little voice doesn’t keep telling you that you’ve got some nasty glitches that still need sorting.
